Rock is just too general of a description for those of us who play and enjoy the music of the 50's and 60's. This is an enormous category on its own, as it includes not only Doo-Wop, but Rockabilly, Bop Rock, Memphis and New Orleans, Bubble Gum, British Invasion, Folk Rock, and Big Production Pop like the music of Phil Specter and Burt Bachrach. This was a great era in music as it mixed the raw energy of Rock with the classic dicipline of Swing. From the 70's on, music became more and more formulated and computerized. Perhaps if enough of us support this addition to the "Genres", we cuold have our own place for discussions without involving those with other interests!

I was surprised not to see an "indie / alternative" section in "genres". "Singer / Songwriter" could be another one.
