Oh, yeah. There's so many soul players in this broad area from Tampa to Naples to Brooksville to Orlando ... NOT! I doubt anyone but me has ever actually listened to a single soul record. The one radio show in this entire broad area -- the guy who played genuine satisfy your soul music is Jeff Stewart on WMNF. He played the kind of soul music where one could not sit still. Just the best of the best from 40's -70's, from King Curtis to Soul Stirrers to Boozoo Chavis to Lee Morgan and everyone in between. Soul music can't be done with machines, folks. It's a music that must be played from the gut -- 'cause the people know when it's phony and pretentious.
Oh. BTW. There are but a handful of actual soul musicians around the state. They're beautiful people. Down to earth far out wonderful great artists who make the sweetest sounds this side of Heaven. And none can get arrested barely in this God forsaken town. A pity 'cause this is still what the people can't get enough of.
Let's see if anyone else posts to this catagory. I doubt it. This is very, very shallow area where "musicians" can't play anything beyond tired Stevie Ray Vaughn licks and have no concept of playing rhythm or playing time or how to listen, when to lay out.
