I'm a bassist in Tampa and found a great original band on Craigslist a couple years ago without any trouble. Within a day I had several strong candidates and subsequently removed my ad as the emails kept coming. Now it seems like half of the ads are flagged and removed within minutes of being posted. Anyone have any clue as to why this has been happening?

CL is a horrible place, horrible place. The posts are flagged by others going to your post and clicking the flag section in the right top corner area. You can do it too but I see you're interested in other things on CL besides joining the thunder storm. I use CL only when I have too. I've traveled MANY states and it's the exact same with CL EVERYWHERE. Cheers, Good luck......

Really? I thought it was just the Tampa area. That's pretty sad. I've flagged posts that were obvious scams, I'm just puzzled as to why legitimate ads would be removed.
Oh well - I'll just rack it up to a bunch of tools online trying to frustrate musicians. Thanks for the insight and good luck to you as well...

I do know that the advertising for this site is staying on top on craigslist because of the flagging. All I do is music and PC tune-up so I have all the time in the world for this...

Craigslist blows for actual professionals who've made good livings from playing nothing but music their whole lives. I'm talking about college trained or street trained (Ira Sullivan, Melton Mustafa, Othello Molineaux, Steve Morse, etc.) who've played for serious living wages upwards of several hundred per one two hour show to into the thousands for same. If there are any of these types of professionals, looking for paying jobs on Craigslist GETS FLAGGED. Ths isn't even American. It's fascist. Communist. Something. Whatever it is, it's by someone who couldn't make the grade and maybe has to play for nothing to play anywhere at all. That is the current mindset of corporate power -- everyone a slave at slave wages to make idiots out of us all for their benefit strictly.

It is sad that some people use the "flagging" tool on CL, as a weapon to enforce their own ideals, opinions. Very shallow. I am thankful for CL in that it helped me get together with the people I am playing music with today. Hopefully this forum will become a tool in helping are musicians communicate.

I think a lot of the flagging is relative to the huge inferiority complex that permeates the TB music scene.
I'm not sure what caused it but it's definitely given the posers, wannabees and club owners the upper hand.
